Recognition for first line made entirely from recycled material
Tacklestream and Angling International first became aware of Sufix Recycline 12 months ago when the owner of the Sufix brand, Rapala, told our editors about a ‘remarkable step’ in eco-tackle – the world’s first line made entirely of recycled material.
This development of this groundbreaking 100% recycled monofilament is part of Rapala’s sustainability strategy. It is made of Econyl, a regenerated nylon that comes from fishing nets pulled straight out of the ocean and a combination of industrial waste nylon and post consumer nylon. Little wonder that at an EFTTEX awards showcase determined to reward ‘green’ tackle that Recycline dominated its category.
At the time of its launch, Taneli Väisänen, Rapala’s Research and Sustainability Manager, told Angling International: “Recycline took two years to develop and is a great example of our concrete efforts in becoming more sustainable. Doing that in terms of production and product materials is one of the cornerstones of the group’s sustainability strategy because this is something that anglers can really get their hands on – great, high quality products that are produced in an environmentally-friendly manner while using the raw materials that support our efforts to provide great outdoor experiences in a greener environment.
“Developing products like Sufix Recycline is never easy and this is truly a remarkable step.”
As a consumer you should also know that not only is the line recycled, but so is the spool that it comes on and the cardboard box it is packaged in. Recycline comes in 150m and 300m spools and nine different line ratings.
