Designed by a big bass fanatic!
Morizo Shimizu, Ever Green‘s Japanese bait designer and big bass fanatic, has created one of the most bass-appealing super-shallow running crankbaits ever designed. It’s the ideal bait for mimicking forage running just below or breaking the surface, with a target running range of less than one foot.
The tiny 2 14-inch, 7/16-ounce floating crankbait dives just below the water’s surface to elicit aggressive reaction bites from bass feeding near or on the water’s surface.
The issue with small crankbaits, particularly when fished with baitcasting gear, is casting distance however there are no issues here. The Ever Green CH-1 has a rattle room at the end of its body that is filled with both tungsten and stainless-steel balls, allowing for incredible casting distance over wide, watery expanses, particularly flats and open water.
At a normal retrieve, the dive curve is less than one foot, but the angler can adjust the running depth with the angle of the rod and retrieve speed to attract fish that stay just below the water’s surface and feed.
Those who are already familiar with the benefits of the Ever Green CH-1 crankbait know it’s a real fish-catcher.
The bait’s secret is its quick reaction upon retrieval and powerful action whether fished fast or slow. The CH-1 responds quickly to contact with water due to its circuit board design and fixed weight at a low centre of gravity. The action and rattle attract fish from a wide range of locations. Even at low speeds, the CH-1 takes a firm hold of the water with action, and during high-speed retrieval, it does not break the water, allowing the angler to use it without worry about how the bait is running or fouling.
The weight transfer system, made of tungsten and stainless steel, produces a complex, low-pitched sound that is appealing to big bass all over the world. It also generates a distinct and powerful high-pitched wobble that has proven to be irresistible.
The CH-1’s wide grip and action aid in avoiding cover. Even after contact with wood or vegetation, it quickly recovers and focuses on the strike zone.
New patterns for the CH-1 include MATTE TIGER, BLACK BLUE CRAW, MYSTIQUE BONE, CHAMPION SHAD, CHART SHAD, PRE-SPAWN DYNAMITE, ROOTBEER, and GHOST WAKASAGI.
“This bait has some strong Japanese design heritage and has proven itself on the most difficult clear bass waters in the world,” says Daiwa Senior Marketing Manager Marc Mills. It will be ideal for anglers fishing shallow water and cover, as well as anywhere there is bait breaking and bass are congregating on the feed. And now, with the new colours, there’s something for everyone, everywhere.”
