Cast further with Shimano’s latest distance reel!

The Ultegra XTE and XSE are based on Shimano’s best-selling models and are poised to revolutionise the market for mid-priced long-range reels.

These reels exceed expectations and are destined to become big sellers throughout Europe, containing many of Shimano’s leading ‘long cast’ innovations in sleek monochrome bodies. Only Shimano’s Ultegra XTE and XSE have Super Slow Oscillation, which is reason enough to acquire them. However, when you examine all of the other technology in these long-range reels, it’s impossible to overlook them. These reels will not only allow you to cast further, but they will also play fish better, endure longer, and look beautiful on whichever rod you choose to use them with.

What are the choices?

If you’re a carp angler who prefers dark, ‘stealth-like’ colours, the XTE is the way to go; if you’re a surfcaster who prefers lighter colours, the ‘silver’ XSE is the way to go. Whichever option you select, you may rest assured that you have chosen an excellent choice. A selection of Shimano’s most modern technology is hidden behind the Ultegra’s lightweight, robust CI4+ shell. Infinity Drive and Silent Drive combined with HAGANE Gear and X-SHIP give incredible smoothness and lightweight rotation.

Performance

When you put the Ultegra under stress, it will deliver all of the power you require and more. While the interior engineering is a piece of art, you’ll be buying this reel for its casting performance. Its Super Slow 5 Oscillation produces an incredibly smooth line lay that has been shown to reduce friction and improve casting potential. However, there are additional factors that also play a part. The Parallel Body transmits the line at the precise angle towards the first guide, while ‘Rigid Cast’ reduces spool deflection at the moment of release during a cast. The line ‘coils down’ as it passes over the lip of the aluminium AR-C spool, reducing friction providing an end result of a level of casting brilliance never seen before at such a low cost.

How much is it and where can you purchase them?

The Shimano Ultegra XTE and XSE are available from Shimano dealers and cost around the £179.99 mark
